Put textures on faces
UVs tell a face which part of a texture to show. Each corner has its own texture position, so neighboring faces can have different mappings.
Face UV workspace
Section titled “Face UV workspace”- Assign a textured material.
- Enable meshy.
- Choose Select.
- Choose Face mode.
- Select a face.
- Drag the selected face in the Face UV dock.
The texture moves across the face. The outlined 0 to 1 texture tile represents one copy of the texture. UVs beyond this tile repeat the texture. The dock accounts for each face’s texture resolution and density. For mixed materials, choose which face supplies the background texture.
Use Open UV Editor for more space. See UV editing for precise transforms, packing, copying, and viewport controls.
Choose the texture size on the mesh
Section titled “Choose the texture size on the mesh”Texel density means texture pixels per meter of geometry. At 256 px/m, a 256×256 texture repeats once per meter. A 128×64 texture repeats twice horizontally and four times vertically.
meshy uses the first available density:
- The face’s Density override in Face UV.
- The material’s override.
- The project default,
meshy/general/default_texel_density_px_per_meter, initially 256 px/m.
Increasing density makes the texture repeat more often across a face. Density changes leave collision shapes and baked-lighting UVs unchanged.
Keep textures in place
Section titled “Keep textures in place”Both toolbar locks start enabled.
| Lock | Effect |
|---|---|
| Texture Lock | Keeps textures aligned to the world during object movement. Disable it to carry textures with the object. |
| UV Lock | Reprojects meter-based UVs during component movement and extrusion. Disable it to stretch textures with the geometry. |
| Face Lock | Protects existing UVs from manual edits and automatic reprojection. Unlock the face to edit it. |
Hotspot faces refit during component movement and extrusion, independently of UV Lock. Face Lock protects their existing UVs. Normalized UVs use fractions of the texture instead of meters. Without a hotspot layout, faces keep existing normalized UVs regardless of UV Lock.
